Acne? Not the clothing brand but your skin...Part 1

Having suffered with bad skin for years as a teen, I have tried almost everything (within my budget!) over the years, to both try to clear it, as well as make up to cover up. Being naturally very pale, I found difficulty in getting a perfect match with make-up. My skin is much clearer now, and I wanted to write this post as I know how much having acne can really affect self confidence as well as simple things - like having friends over for a sleepover; I hated having people over in case they saw me in the morning without any make-up! Part 1 will be concerned with skincare and products I use, and part 2 will be concerned with the makeup I use. I really hope that this can help some people. My skin has been full of breakouts, dry, yet oily, and sensitive. These products have not caused me any products, but be aware that you should always test first to avoid any reaction. If you click on the links it will take you to where you can buy the product.

Firstly, it is important to have a good make up remover! For my eyes, I use Johnson's eye pads or this eye makeup remover with cotton wool balls. After I have removed my eye makeup, I use this Simple foaming wash for all of my face; it has almost no fragrance, and really deep cleanses to get rid of your makeup. It can be gently rubbed over your eyes as well, to get rid of any residue from the aforementioned eye makeup removal products. Never be afraid to use this foaming wash twice; you cannot 'overwash' your face, in my opinion, and sometimes you need two cleansing sessions to get all your makeup off! Exfoliation is important, and I use this Johnsons exfoliating wash. Scrub gently over your face. For a super smooth finish I use a facial buffer from The Body Shop.

Two soaps which I would recommend for your face are Coalface Cleanser from Lush (doubles as a scrub / exfoliator) as long as it is used only one or two times a week, and also Fresh Farmacy from Lush. It is a really soothing soap - perfect for when you feel as if you cannot bear to put anything on sore skin; use this!

I use a toner everyday. I have found that the clarifying lotion step 2 is the best. It is pricey, but definitely worth it.

The only gel / moisturiser I have used for the last five years is the dramatically different moisturizing gel; again it is pricey - but the best on the market.

Finally, a mask that I use is the Mudd Original mask. Use this once a week and you will be doing your skin a favour. I really hope this helps some of you, please feel free to provide feedback or to ask any questions!
